about

So this song has quite a backstory.

I first heard the instrumental when Call Me G uploaded it onto YouTube and being such a fan of his beats, I downloaded the free version for listening while I went about my business with work and stuff. As I listened to the melody, the lyrics 'Tell me, what do you want from me?' came to mind. Keeping it in mind, I then wrote a hook using those lines to start it off.

I then ended up having a think about my mother's marriage to my step-father. The marriage worked out brilliantly to start with, but over the years, turned sour. It was my step-father to blame for that, because he absolutely DESPISED me for some odd reason (thought if I had to guess, he hated me because he was jealous that I wasn't HIS child), along with other things I won't go into. Eventually, him and my mother divorced and this song sort of came about while I was thinking about the marriage from my mother's perspective, which shifted into the tone of the song.

After this song was done, it sat on my laptop in silence, not being touched for a while. This was because I didn't really have any plans to do anything with the song. It would've been good to put it out on music retailers, but I wasn't sure if it was worth buying a lease for it, as much as I like the beat itself. Well, come the 14th of January, Call Me G had a sale where a majority of his beats were being sold at 50% off. Ultimately, I purchased the cheapest lease which only cost me about $20 and here the song is in its full glory!

lyrics

[Verse 1]

See here I was, thinkin' we were perfect.
But things turned cold, thought it would be worth it.
Maybe now, you'd appreciate what I do.
When I come, straight home back to you.

For you, I do a lot, nothing in return
Not that I'd expect much, just your love when it burns
But as of recent, I give you all my love
And you just act like, even that's not enough
So...

[Hook]

Tell me, what do you want from me?
Is all of this a game?
Do you love me all the same?
All I want's your heart tonight
So why don't things feel right?

[Verse 2]

I'm thinkin' back, to when we fell in love,
Your eyes so blue, like the skies above.
Did I say something that rubbed you the wrong way?
Or did I do something, that filled your heart with pain?

I remember in those days, we'd never seperate.
But now something's gone wrong; you don't even look my way.
I do so much for you, and you take them for granted,
If you think that's fine, then your views are slanted.
Now-

[Hook]

[Bridge]

I used to think that maybe if we gave it time,
Things will turn out fine
And you'd still be mine.

But now I'm thinking maybe I should let you go,
'Cause if your love still grows,
Then you don't let it show.

[Verse 3]

I see that, all your lies. Think I believe that?
Life's stressful enough, so I don't need that.
So much love and affection that I carried,
Didn't sign up for THIS when we got married!
Used to enjoy it, but then years passed.
Now I see that your love just doesn't last.
'Cause when I did something against your offers,
You'd go and strop like a bratty little toddler.

Thought it could work, but now I'm all done!
Don't make me choose between you or my son!
'Cause you know I'll choose him all the way!
That's a game you'll lose every time you play!
And it's a damn shame, 'cause I used to adore you!
Taking extra hours at work to support you!
Get alone with Jack and you'd flip your shit,
Would cope with it, but now I'm sick of it!
So-!

[Hook]

[Outro]

I don't care what you want from me
I see it's all a game,
You don't love me anyway.
All you do is just decieve
So get your shit and leave.
