about

Happy new year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your 2022 and you're looking forward for what 2023 has to offer.

I have to admit, my 2022 has been... hectic, to say the least. I've had a lot of good moments, but I've also had a lot of bad moments as well unfortunately. I don't wish to go into details about it, but there was a point in 2022 where I ended up in a very dark place, something that I'm mostly over by this point.

This song originally began life as an instrumental I made, based on a beat called '✨ 5000 ✨' by Call Me G (which as you all know, I'm a huge fan of). Upon listening to both the inspiration and the final beat, I thought about writing some reflective bars over it, especially since the original beat reminded me a little bit of 'Devil's Work' by Joyner Lucas, despite being a Drake type beat.

Thus, I made a promise to myself: that I'd make a song reflecting on 2022 and what I hope for in regards to 2023. The result was this song here. Honestly, you can put my vocals for this song over the Call Me G instrumental and you'll see it links up perfectly, thought you'd probably need to edit the instrumental to fit the whole song, since the beat would end after the 2nd verse if untouched.

But regardless of all that I say, I hope you all like it and once again, happy new year.

On a side note, if I DO put this track onto a future album of mine, it might just be a bonus track or something of the sorts, depending on what type of album it's a part of.

lyrics

[Verse 1]

For me, 2022 has been a crazy year.
Back then, I had my share of changes, hopes and fears.
I've been through a lot since the last year came about
Some of which, I admit, I don't want to talk about.
I made a few mistakes that left me feeling not so great,
But I hope that the lessons learned can help me elevate,
Towards a better future where things are a little clearer,
I just hope the good life I desire's gettin' nearer.

'Cause life is full of bullshit, that's something I understand.
Something I had to learn, 'cause I'm not gettin' younger, man.
I'm midway through my 20's, so I know I'm still young,
I've got more living to do, I know it's far from done.
But every now and then, I just wish to sit back and reflect,
Paint some pictures in your mind with the words that I express.
But right now, let me be honest while I take this breather:
2022's not my worst year, but not my best either.

[Hook]

Been through a lot this past year.
I hope this coming year becomes clear.
I've got so many stories untold.
Who knows what the new year holds.

[Verse 2]

Now it's 2023, it's a new year.
I just hope it's a good one without any fear.
There's so many things in life I wanna try and do,
Like trying my hardest to be happy and vibrant (true)
Maybe this year, I'll finally buckle down and learn to drive,
Then I can go where I please when I want to burn some time.
To improve myself as a person before the day I'm dead,
I want to be more social like my father always said.

I also want to try and go out more often,
Go full force into life and keep movin' without stoppin'.
Maybe this year, I'll finally find myself a partner,
That I can share my life with and all of its stress and laughter.
I've thought about hittin' the gym again to pass some time,
For the moments between my job, my friends and rhymes.
Maybe in the future, I'll be wearing a wedding ring,
But for now, let's just see what THIS year brings.
