Well, this was a song I didn't think I'd be dropping this evening, but I just felt bored and wanted to drop a new track for the hell of it. Especially after such an... admittedly hectic year for me.
The original Gorillaz song has stuck with me since around 2004 / 2005, WAY back when I was still in secondary school. A fond memory that I have regarding 'Don't Get Lost in Heaven', the second to last track on the album 'Demon Days', is coming home from my very last day of secondary school and playing it on my stereo, using the song to relax and vibe to. Just the chords and the piano felt pleasing to the ear for me.
So years had passed and I one day decided to make an instrumental that sampled 'Don't Get Lost in Heaven'. Once it was done, I wrote some lyrics to it and turned it into a song. It was planned to be a part of a project called 'The Drawing Board'. However, I decided to scrap that project in favour of working on other things. I'm thinking of making this a bonus track on a future mixtape, but only time will tell what'll happen.
