As another year comes to a close,
I think of past Christmases that I know.
All the memories that I always cherish,
Untill the day that I perish.

I think about the good times I had,
When I was still a young lad.
Where nostalgia and joy were always there,

Back in the days, when I was just a child,
When all the schools were closed for a while,
I used to get so excited for the holidays,
To get me overjoyed, life had its ways.
Seeing Chirstmas lights turned on in the town,
Celebrating people and children all around.
The Christmas tree standing proud in the living room,
For the presents that Santa would be giving soon.

My child self never had to deal with fretwork,
Just holiday specials on Cartoon Network.
Tinsel laid with care along the fireplace,
Leading up to Christmas, the house was a quiet place.
I would sit in front of the TV, feeling alright,
Living room lit up by the Christmas lights.
So excited by the thought of Santa's sleigh.
Overjoyed at the arrival of Christmas Day.

Thinking back now, so many pleasent memories,
That I wouldn't remove if I had the energy.
Nowadays, I would spend time with family,
Eating Christmas dinners and drinking happily.
But sadly, there's an issue that's so clear:
I'm afraid I'm workin' Christmas Day this year.
But then again, I'm not fussed about the holiday
Despite the memories and childhood jolly ways.

Don't get the wrong idea though, I still enjoy it,
But as I grew to a man from a boy, it-

That Christmas is more of a thing for kids.
So I let the children have their fun and games,
It's heartwarming, watching the families play.
